Good morning, Darlings!
We’re building up to Children of the Wrong Heaven, which is coming out next August. Preorders are going to open up this fall, and if you know anything about publishing you know preorders are weirdly important.
I’m not sure why. I just make words.
Anyway, to celebrate I’m releasing a surprise novel-length story, serialized, right here, starting October 1st.
You’ll get a new chapter every week with hints and easter eggs for the new novel.
Here’s a little sneak peak.

The forest did not know what it was anymore, and only vaguely remembered being a forest. What it was now, and had been for a long time, had no name and could only be understood through its disparate parts – trees and falling leaves and six cabins standing around a sand courtyard, the paved base with its Quonset huts, the bodies under the surface, and, of course, the mechanism. The water that licked the edges of the island was the color of pennies. Nothing green grew in the forest, and even the plants that seemed new were dust-colored or black. At the heart of the island was that gleaming mechanism— the machine running through the dirt like the guts of a slumbering giant.
It had lived once. It might live again. For a long, long time, it had waited.
It might have waited still, had human minds not endeavored to awaken it.
